Suggestion: add sold-price history filters to the market boards

While browsing the Delhi board, I kept wanting a consistent way to filter threads that include sold-price history. It would make local comparisons easier and cut down repeated questions in valuation and market-report discussions.

Would this work best as a required field, a tag, or a search filter? My concern with a required field is regional variation and the extra moderation needed, especially when older threads lack the information. Posting also needs to stay quick for casual members and usable on mobile.

I would start with an optional structured field rather than free-form tags. Tags tend to split into variations, while a field could feed a search filter without forcing every poster to supply information they may not have. On mobile, it could sit behind an “add sale details” option.

One missing point: should the filter distinguish completed sale prices from asking prices? Otherwise comparisons could become more confusing, not less.

That distinction is important, but I’m not convinced old-thread migration is worth the moderation effort. Apply the optional field to new posts, label the price type clearly, and leave older threads searchable by their existing text. If members find a particularly useful old Delhi thread, they could add the field when updating it rather than moderators trying to convert the whole archive.
