Correction to my shorthand: include any fee added to the loan in both the initial balance and the interest calculation, rather than listing it only as cash paid upfront.
 
APR remains useful as a screening number because it combines rate and certain costs, but Daniel’s expected moving window is the better period for the final cash comparison.
 
Given the follow-up, I’d ask each lender for one final matched quote and written answers on repayment, portability and lock timing. If the expensive option still breaks even only after the likely move, its lower rate is not enough by itself.
