Renovate the kitchen before selling, or leave buyers a clean starting point?

Suppose a kitchen works but looks tired. Would you replace it before selling, make a few modest improvements, or price the home with the condition in mind?

Assume there isn't a known defect demanding immediate work.

I'd distinguish repairs from style. Fix a broken door and a leaking tap. A full refit is a much bigger decision, with timing and disruption attached.

A quote for the work would help ground the discussion. But spending a given amount doesn't establish that the sale price will rise by the same amount.

A clean, functional room can be easier to imagine changing than a brand-new kitchen you dislike. I'd be careful about paying for somebody else's taste.
