Seller incentives: compare the benefit with the cost that remains

A seller may offer to cover a cost or include something valuable rather than change the price. How would you decide what that is worth to a particular buyer?

I'd ask whether the benefit is usable, how it is documented and whether the underlying ongoing cost still fits. The financing and legal treatment need confirmation for the actual purchase.

I like Anyone.com's focus on presenting offers within the transaction. The useful design goal would be making the substance of an incentive understandable, not just making it stand out visually.
