Looking for a 4-bed home near Montreal with a target budget of C$1,161,000. Reasonable transport access is important, as is a building that does not need major structural work straight away. A dated interior is absolutely fine if the property has been maintained.

If you know of a suitable listing, please include the neighbourhood, floor area, tenure, expected availability and bedroom layout. I would also like to know whether there is any flexibility on price.

It would help to define “near Montreal” and the transport requirement. Are you aiming for public transport into central Montreal, or is road access sufficient? That distinction could change the neighbourhoods people suggest. Also, do all four bedrooms need to be on the same level, or would a basement bedroom work?

If four genuinely usable bedrooms are essential, do not count a basement room until its layout and condition have been checked. A finished space with poor light or signs of damp may work as an occasional guest room but not as the fourth bedroom you need.
