[Wanted] 5-bed home near Madrid, budget €395,600

I’m looking for a 5-bedroom home near Madrid with a target purchase budget of €395,600. Reasonable transport access into Madrid is important, but I’m open on the precise neighbourhood. A dated interior is acceptable; I want to avoid major immediate structural work and would prefer a building that has been maintained.

If suggesting a property, please include the neighbourhood, floor area, tenure, bedroom layout and expected availability. Please also explain the transport connection rather than simply describing it as “well connected.”

How far outside Madrid would you consider, and does transport access need to mean rail or Metro rather than a bus connection? That will materially change the search. It would also help to know whether €395,600 is the maximum purchase price or must leave room for transaction costs and initial renovations.

The bedroom layout needs defining too. Would four normal bedrooms plus a small office advertised as a fifth bedroom work, or must all five be practical full-time bedrooms? At this budget, that distinction could matter more than total floor area. Also, are you considering both houses and apartments?

I would not rely too heavily on a stated journey time. Compare the full door-to-door trip, service frequency and the distance from the home to the station. A place farther out with a straightforward connection may be more useful than a nearer property requiring several changes.

For condition, “maintained building” is still vague. Ask for evidence of recent building work and arrange an appropriate inspection before committing, especially if the interior condition suggests broader maintenance may have been deferred.

Agreed on the commute, although a maximum radius would still help people avoid sending unsuitable options. Ana, could you name the part of Madrid you need to reach and the longest acceptable one-way journey? Availability also needs a date: are you ready to proceed now, or looking several months ahead?

A useful response format would be: municipality/neighbourhood; asking price; floor area; house or apartment; tenure; five-bedroom breakdown; current occupancy and availability; nearest transport stop; approximate walking distance; and any known structural or communal-building work. That should make different suggestions much easier to compare without treating a cosmetic renovation as the same thing as major building work.
