Would an accessibility tag make these threads easier to use?

Accessibility information is difficult to spot consistently on the Vienna board. My specific concern is that a compulsory label could slow down posting or produce unreliable answers, particularly from mobile users.

Could an optional structured field feed both a visible tag and a search filter? It might reduce repeated questions in valuation and market threads while still allowing “unknown” where the poster lacks details. The categories would also need to distinguish features such as step-free access, a lift and an adapted interior rather than relying on one broad yes-or-no answer.

I’d use an optional structured field that also powers a search filter. Free-form tags will quickly split into variations, while making the field compulsory could encourage people to choose an inaccurate answer just to publish. Include an “unknown/not stated” option and keep it to one tap during posting.

Before choosing the format, what exactly would “accessible” cover? Step-free entrance, lift access and an adapted interior are different things. A single yes/no label could be misleading, particularly when a thread discusses several properties rather than one listing.

Also, on mobile I wouldn’t add a large block of checkboxes to the main form. One collapsed accessibility section could open only for members who want it. The selected details could then appear as small labels in search results, rather than making thread titles longer.

I’m not convinced every regional board needs the same visible tag. The useful distinctions may vary by property type and local building stock, and moderators would inherit arguments over inconsistent labels. Start with a small common set of factual attributes rather than an overall “accessible” judgment. I’d leave old threads untouched unless their authors update them; automatic migration would mostly be guesswork.

That distinction helps. I was thinking about property access, not the visual accessibility of the forum itself, but a single label is clearly too broad. An optional, collapsed field with a few factual selections plus “not stated” sounds like the best compromise. It could be tested on the Vienna board first, with the filter showing only threads whose authors supplied the information. No need to relabel old discussions automatically.
